TiECon Canada is TiE’s flagship conference for entrepreneurs, SMEs and industry veterans, investors and other members of the Canadian business community. Organized in partnership with Canadian sister chapters in Toronto and Vancouver, and global TiE chapters in Silicon Valley and Boston, this event features entrepreneurs, industry leaders, technology gurus and investors from different sectors and all spheres of business.  It will build directly on the success of previous TiECon Canada conferences that assembled more than 250 participants, this sold out event featured more than 50 speakers, dozens of investors, and 25 partners.

He has also served as a consultant to a number of medium to large private companies and while going to school at Cornell University Ali co-founded a maker space called the POPSHOP. He maintained responsibility for the International Group’s strategic market development and planning process, including designing infrastructure to bring new products to market. Windmill is at the front of this movement.” Jonathan is the founder of Windmill and is a thought leader as it relates to green development practices. Jonathan has spearheaded a new national consortium that is focused entirely on green building retrofits as part of Ledcor Construction. Prior to founding Windmill, Jonathan was a founding partner of Venbridge, a  division of Gowlings law firm. Previously, Jonathan was CEO and founder of LOSC, Inc., a Boston venture capital firm.

He held senior positions with Corel and Exocom after completing his MBA. Jonathan has been involved in the evaluation of various innovative technologies and finance structures for high performance green buildings. Amber Saunders is the owner of Saunders Law Group. She helps entrepreneurs and dreamers start, grow, and fund their companies.  Amber received her J.D. from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School.  Amber worked for one of America’s favorite Judges and graduated from Oakwood University. In France, Amber studied at Campus Adventist du Saleve and traveled Europe. She started and failed to start at a few companies (what entrepreneur hasn’t?), and traveled across the nation with 100 Urban Entrepreneurs helping startups obtain funding and mentors to create the businesses they love.


She produced FailCon Atlanta, a conference that encourages entrepreneurs to executives to share fail tales and lessons learned.  When it comes to failure, Amber has heard everything. Amber looks forward to being a part of the Learning from Failures Panel at TieCon Canada 2015.

Who Will Claim TiECon Canada PitchFest 2015?

TiECon Canada is calling all Ottawa entrepreneurs who are seeking seed funding, expertise and business support to accelerate their development and time to market! Compete for $50,000 cash and in-kind entrepreneurial services at the third TiECon Canada PitchFest! Apply today – the deadline for applications is Friday, September 25, 2015!

Five Ottawa companies will be selected to pitch to a panel of investors and TiECon Canada participants on Friday, October 30, 2015 at the Brookstreet Hotel. The winning entrepreneur will be awarded $25,000 in cash, and up to $120,000 of in-kind business services from leading accelerators and business firms.

To be eligible, PitchFest applicants were required to:

- Be an Ottawa company in the start-up phase of development;
- Have sold products or services to at least two customers;
- Have generated less than $5 million in revenue since inception; and
- Register for TiECon Canada. A special rate of $99 is provided to all the PitchFest applicants upon signup for PitchFest
